Donate Items

We are accepting materials! All materials donated will be gone through by our staff. Some items will be selected to go into the Library, but most items will go to the FRIENDS to be put out for sale to help raise funds for the Library!

Please limit to one medium-sized box with any of the following:

  • Items need to be in good enough condition that they can be enjoyed
  • Any fiction or nonfiction books -adult or children’s- published within the last 5 years
  • Any bestsellers from any publication date
  • Classics
  • Playable DVDs/Blu-Rays (movies and TV series welcome)
  • Playable audiobooks

Please drop all items off at the circulation desk at the Library during Library operation hours.

Please do not leave items outside of the Library.

Sustainable Shelves

There’s nothing we hate more than throwing out perfectly good books. We want to assure donators that with the help of Baker & Taylor, no books at the Library go to waste.

The Sustainable Shelves Program allows the Library to weed out books that no longer circulate or don’t sell at our book sales and send them to Baker & Taylor where the books will be resold to new homes or properly recycled for new books. In summary: your donations never go to waste!

You can read more about the program here.

Volunteer

There is an ongoing need for volunteers to help with different library duties and special events. No prior library experience is required. You can volunteer occasionally or every week – It’s up to you!

All tasks will be completed with the support and guidance of library staff, as well as other experienced volunteers.

Students are invited to complete community service hours with us. Please let us know at least a week in advance if you want to come volunteer, so we can be prepared with meaningful tasks for you to do.

There are several other volunteer opportunities available as well:

Run a Program – Do you have a cool skill you would like to share? Want to give a talk about something, run a workshop, or start a club? Email director@pineplainslibrary.org with your ideas!

Join the FRIENDS – Become a member of the Friends of the Pine Plains Free Library and help with fundraising, volunteering at events, and more.
